Shervin Pishevar is a technology luminary, entrepreneur and venture capitalist based in Silicon Valley. Mr. Pishevar was born in 1974 in Tehran, Iran, the son of Abraham Pishevar. His research writings have been published in Neuroscience Letters as well as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and he is the holder of several U.S. patents. His higher education in the United States was in interdisciplinary studies, in which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Shervin Pishevar has been recognized by the United States Department of Homeland Security as an Outstanding American by Choice. He holds the distinction of being one of only 100 naturalized Americans to receive this award since the time it was created. In 2015, Mr. Pishevar was appointed by President Barack Obama to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, and received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2016.
With a global mindset, Shervin Pishevar has been involved in activities for the betterment of humanity in the United States and abroad. He is the co-founder and Managing Director of the venture capital firm of Sherpa Ventures based in San Francisco. During his career to date, Mr. Pishevar has helped to found and operate a number of high-tech companies including HyperOffice and Webs.com. which have garnered in excess of $50 million in investment funding.
Shervin Pishevar has worked with the U.S. Department of State on a number of delegations in Russia and the Middle East. He served on the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications policy working group in Algeria that created the Technology and Innovation Plan in 2008. Indicative of his position at the forefront of global, innovative thinking, Shervin Pishevar took up the idea presented by another high-tech luminary, Elon Musk, to build a mass transit system based on electromagnetic levitation known as a “hyperloop.” In 2014 Mr. Pishevar co-founded Hyperloop One. The first round of funding in the fledgling company was led by Sherpa Capital, which raised $37 million.
