Lavin Career Beginnings
In the early 1970s, McDonald’s was riding high in the fast food business. McDonald’s asked Otto and Sons to provide their hamburger patties for their locations. At the time, Otto and Sons were going through a rough time with their business. About that time, Sheldon Lavin became Otto and Sons’, financial advisor. Under Lavin guidance, Otto and Sons grew financially and regained the McDonald’s contract to provide their hamburger meat patties. Lavin continued as the financial advisor for Otto and Sons. Lavin pursued business for the company in other countries. Mr. Otto decided to retire from the industry. Sheldon Lavin and Mr. Otto sons partner together and the company was renamed the OSI Group. Under Lavin lead as the OSI Group, the company expanded operations supplying their meat and meat products to Europe, North America, Australia, South Africa, Japan, Asia, and the Phillippines.
